I remember back when you and me were young
What did we know of life back then?
We did everything together, and swore we always would,
we swore we’d always be best friends
But your life changed
and so did mine
Suddenly the memory of you is all I have
You’re living with your new boyfriend
I know you have a kid now, you have a family
There’s no room in your life for me
Your life changed
but so did mine
Why did growing up mean the same as splitting up
From the one you thought you’d be with ‘til the end
I know this sounds pathetic but I miss you so damn much
And it’s hard to face that you’re no more my friend
This is not a plea for you to get in touch
It’s just my way of therapy
For 10 years I was there for you
I helped you, I supported you
Why’d you turn away from me?
I guess your life changed
but so did mine!
Why did growing up mean the same as splitting up
From the one you thought you’d be with ‘til the end
I know this sounds pathetic but I miss you so damn much
And it’s hard to face that you’re no more my friend
Your life changed
and so did mine
